Posts Tagged ‘Professions’

Sorry there haven’t been more posts from us here, but things have been pretty quiet in our corner of the World (of Warcraft).

We’ve still been playing regularly (aside from a few Civilization V breaks), but we just haven’t been doing all that much in-game.  Grinding reps, doing dailies, working on professions, playing alts, etc.  And there’s not much news there, other than it’s hell to get enchanting and tailoring to 525.

And that playing a hunter is basically cheating – at least when questing.

And that all druids should probably have only gathering professions because of flight form.

Anyway…last night, we managed to have enough people to run a heroic last night with my DK as the tank.  Chawa took her priest (as shadow), Pacheco was huntering, and [Enhancement Shaman] was actually [Assassination Rogue]’ing.  Brokentree was healing, like a boss.  We randomized things and ended up with Heroic Deadmines.  Other than myself seeing the latter half once, none of us had really been there.  Hooray for learning as a guild.

And dying as a guild.

Yeah, some of those trash packs can be a bit of a doozy.  But we stuck it out and managed to get our achieves.

I also scored some offset loot:  Cookie’s Tenderizer.  And man, it makes me glad that I switched my offspec to Frost DK’ing.  Because man, he looks like a BAMF now.  Just look!

Someone needs a hug.

That’s it for now!  Sorry there hasn’t been more exciting news to report, but that’s just how it goes sometimes.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Just a few weeks ago, I finally dinged 80 on my Warlock.  But I was kind of at a loss.  I had a reasonably good leveling/solo Demonology spec to minimize downtime.  Sure, I had a few ideas of what a good level 80 spec might be (WoWwiki is a great starting place).  But what I didn’t know is;  How do I maximize my potential as a fresh 80?  So, I asked Fulguralis over at Killing ’em Slowly for some help, given that Emblem of Triumph gear is the order of the day.

Now, I’ve been playing a mage for about four years now.  And fortunately with the growth of the WoW community, there are all sorts of resources available – but most of it is for optimizing raiding specs, etc.

So, I realized that there really isn’t any RECENT (or updated) “Fresh 80” mage guides.  Well, that is until I found Empowered Fire.  The ladies over there have done a fantastic and thorough job compiling information for new level 80 mages.  You can click here and overload yourself with excellent information.  Advice on gems, specs, and everything.

But there’s one thing about EF’s guide; They left out most/all of the Emblem of Triumph gear.   To a certain degree, it makes sense, as it will take a little while to have enough EoT’s to get yourself fully suited up.

But that’s what this post is for:  Given that Tier 9 gear is readily available through EoT’s – What is the best plan of action?  What should one do to make the most of your Tier 9 and Emblem gear?

(Author’s Note:  The following is an opinion piece with lots of rambling, basic mage theorystuffs, and no data to back anything up. 🙂 )

Lies of the Grind

Satisfaction is when you have successfully grinded your professions up to 300 on your death knight before she steps into Outland.

Earlier this week:  There was considerable dissatisfaction, lies of love, money lost and begging.

Over the last two weeks, I’ve been grinding jewelcrafting.  Here’s a little taste of the “fun” I’ve been having.

When leveling Jewelcrafting from 200 to 220 it’s recommended to make [Citrine Ring of Rapid Healing]s.    I’ve got the mithril bars but I need Citrine.  I have a few on me but not enough.  I mount up and gallop across half of Silvermoon to the Auction House and do a search for Citrine.  Of course, Citrine is currently for sale at 150% markup from the normal price.   I refuse to buy that at such outrageous prices!

So I wowhead Citrine.  It’s prospected from Iron Ore.  Good! ~  I’ve 2 stacks of Iron Ore in my bank.  Gallop to Bank.

/prospect 5 ore   —>  Lesser moonstone

/prospect 5 ore —> Lesser moonstone

/prospect 5 ore  —> Jade

/prospect 5 ore  —> Lesser moonstone.

/groan – Give me a break…

Double check wowhead for Citrine because I’m starting to doubt myself.  I’m not wrong – it is prospected from Iron Ore but so are a few other gems.

/propspect 5 ore  —> Citrine!  YES!!!!

/prospect 5 ore  —> Aquamarine – NOOO!!!!!

/prospect 5 ore and beg  —> Lesser moonstone  /sigh

/prospect 5 ore and beg more  —> Citrine!   THANKYOU!!!!

Of course, at this point I’m out of Iron Ore now.  Might as well make what I can now.

/crafts Citrine Ring of Rapid Healing  —->  jewelcrafting has increased to 215 and the receipe turns yellow.

/crafts Citrine Ring of Rapid Healing  —-> jewelcrafting increased to 216

/crafts Citrine Ring of Rapid Healing & whispers “I love you”*  —-> jewelcrafting increased to 217

/crafts Citrine Ring of Rapid Healing  & whispers “I love you” —->  jewelcrafting increased to 218

/crafts Citrine Ring of Rapid Healing  & whispers “I love you”  —-> …..    …..  Nothing!!!  No increase!!  Agghrrr!!!

/scream hysterically in true Blood Elf fashion!

/smashes* Citrine Ring of Rapid Healing with Greataxe of the Ebon Blade, shattering it into pieces!!

(*You can ask Regis – I really did whisper that into the monitor and if I could have targeted that ring, I would have!)
