Illidan once told us when Burning Crusade was pending release, “You are NOT prepared.”  Little did I realize that he was referring to a different patch.

I actually saw it before I read about it.  But in case you haven’t heard, Patch 4.0 is on the downlow… er, download.

The title of this post is rather ironic considering our recent successful progression in ICC 10man…

I would love to post you some numbers about BM’s performance against MM and SV in a 10man ICC raids.  I’ve been thinking about it because in my experience, BM is a viable raiding spec and does not “suck” as bad as it’s been reported with information that I believe is based mostly on 25M raiding

Alas, I have finally have decided against posting any numbers in defence of BM.  Today I heard about this blue post:

The only specs we really failed on in LK raiding were Frost mage, Subtlety rogue, BM hunter and Arms warrior.

Oh crap.

Did he just call my spec “fail”???

What does he mean?  What’s the context – is he talking raiding 10mans, 25mans, heroic modes?  GC’s complete words were:

Yet, even though Enhance’s dps was low, there were thousands of dps shaman raiding ICC. By far the majority of raids had at least one. The only specs we really failed on in LK raiding were Frost mage, Subtlety rogue, BM hunter and Arms warrior. If Enhance’s numbers are higher on mobility fights, then those participation numbers should only go up.

Okay GC, so… what you’re saying is that the 5 above mentioned class specs have lower dps compared to the other classes and their specs in raiding. However, since Shaman DPS was still being used by most raids, it isn’t as “failed” as the others?  What if BM hunters had a good representation in raids?  Would that change your opinion?

Does this mean that I’ll get my moose instead?

Trying to prove that BM can produce raid-worthy dps is rather pointless when Blizzard has come out and agreed with the masses.

Reading around the blogosphere, I’ve seen where people have defended the statement:

yes in the min/max, heroic lich king downing, hardcore community, BM failed. these are the same people who wont pug me as survival. that being said, i was in a 25toc gdkp where the 2nd highest dps of the carriers was a BM hunter, who i only beat just barely, granted this was only one instance, but lets be honest, how many BM hunters do u see?

And I’ve seen what people have responded with:

you have just verified what Blizzard said. You just named 1 example from WotLK where BM was second on DPS…. The only thing it says about that particular run is that the rest DPS was either incompetent, raiding with VERY low gear compared to him or simply they were other failed DPS specs.
And you also answered yourself. The reason you dont see BM raiding is exactly the fact that it is failed raiding spec. So no, not in the min/max, heroic LK, hardcore community but in general. Although it is the king of soloing specs.

Trying to prove that BM can produce raid-worthy dps is not a fight worth fighting if  people will come along and insult my fellow raiders or the guild that I run with.   I know what dps BM can do and I doubt very much that just because Blizzard failed me, I’m going to drop BM now.

Holy Crow, there was some big news posted yesterday – with a little bit of follow up.  (Using WoW.com links as the offical forums don’t load for me properly.)

And it has stirred up a LOT of opinion on the matter, but these are just a few things I’ve read:

Anyway, this isn’t supposed to be a “blogs I read” summary.  I actually have my own thoughts on this, too…

So, just last week, Patch 3.3.5 dropped.  Real ID was the big “news maker” from the patch.

But another a couple of other changes were made.  The one I’m referring to, in particular, is the changes to the Vote-Kick system.

 To quote:

The functionality of the Vote Kick feature in the Dungeon Finder will now behave differently according to a player’s history with the system. Players using the Dungeon Finder who rarely vote to kick players from a group, or rarely abandon groups before a dungeon is complete, will find that the Vote Kick option will have no cooldown. For players who frequently abandon groups or vote to kick other players, the Vote Kick option will be kept on a cooldown. This functionality will adjust itself as a player’s behavior while using the Dungeon Finder changes.

I didn’t think about it too much.  That was, until last night.

I PvP.  But I am terrible at it.  And unfortunately for me, you have to PvP your way through some of the World Events.

Midsummer Festival starts today and it’s the last event I need for the meta achievement.  But of course, it has a PvP component:., Stealing the Flames and Desecrating the Flames.  So, I’m learning a few things along the way and I’ve got a few tips to maybe help out surviving this mess. 🙂

Anyway, I’ll get right to it after the cut.
