As a casual player of WoW, getting my grubby hands on Valour Points can be a little tough. With work and the general facade that I’m an adult, I just don’t have the time to deal with jackassery. As a result, my lack of tolerance for PuGs certainly means few random heroics ever get run.
Fortunately, as patches get released and raid content progresses, Valour Point (and some Tier 11) gear can eventually be purchased using Justice Points. The “downside” to this is that any existing Valour Points you have will be converted into Justice Points AND anything over the 4000 point maximum will be converted into gold. As unfortunate as that may be, it’s fair.
Anyway…one of my plans is to maximize my T11 purchasing power after Patch 4.2 and minimize the amount of JP’s/VP’s turned to gold. And how am I going to do that?
HONOUR POINTS, THAT’S HOW!
With Patch 4.1, the aforementioned Justice Points and Valour Points can be used to purchase Honour Points and Conquest Points, respectively. Conversely, you can use Honour Points to purchase Justice Points. (But not CP -> VP. Go figure.) And by using these mechanics, you can end up with a heaping pile of Justice Points after patch 4.2.
Here’s a little guideline to help make your conversions most efficient. Keep in mind, I’m assuming nothing is maxed out.
- 1 Valour Point = 1 Justice Point
- 1 Honour Point = 0.667 Justice Point
- 1 Conquest Point -> into HP after 4.2 = 0.667 Justice Point
- 1 Justice Point -> into HP before 4.2 -> back to JP after 4.2 = 0.333 Justice Point
Now, if you can buy VP gear now, you may as well do so. With that said, you may not have enough VP’s to buy anything. So, letting VP’s get converted directly to JP’s with patch 4.2 would be best. But, if you’re already maxed out on JP’s, then you need to need to start converting things into the PvP currencies.
The most useful PvE to PvP conversion would be turning Valour Points into Conquest Points before the patch. Of course, if you are short the minimum 250 Valour Points required for a transaction, then you should make some room in your Justice Points by purchasing Honour to free up some room for your VP -> JP conversion. Not quite the most efficient way to maintain post-4.2 points, but it’s a means to an end.
Ideally, one would have 4000 JP’s and at least 3750 HP’s after 4.2 drops. This means that you’ll effectively have 6500 Justice Points for all sorts of gear buying fun!
I hope this makes sense and I hope this helps you with your plans for purchasing gear after patch 4.2.*
* – PvP’ers can do similar conversions for HP’s, but unfortunately they cannot convert CP’s to VP’s. So they have to take the extra hit doing HP -> JP -> back to HP.
