Whether it be through e-mail, blog comments, or announcements in Trade Chat – there is one simple fact of all methods: Spam plagues the internet.
In the past two and a half weeks, The Wayward Initiative has received 22 spam comments. I can’t even imagine the volume of spam for blogs people actually read!
With that said, I have to give props to the latest spam comment attempted. It is certainly amazing how creative these people can get. Here it is (links removed, but underlined for demonstrative purposes):
HELP! I’m currently being held prisoner by the Russian mafia xyzrxyz penis enlargement xyzrxyz and being forced to post spam comments on blogs and forum! If you don’t approve this they will kill me. xyzrxyz penis enlargement xyzrxyz They’re coming back now. xyzrxyz vimax xyzrxyz Please send help!
Trying to get me to approve comments via my conscience. Very clever…and somewhat amusing. Even if the logic is totally out of whack. I mean, really – if you were being forced to spam comments, you would probably be doing it while supervised. If you had the means of sending a distress message, you would probably encode it in spam if you were still being supervised. BUT this message implies that the supervision was lacking for a moment… so wouldn’t you send your distress message without spam or sketchy links? And if the posts are being monitored, you’re screwed regardless.
So yeah, I didn’t approve the comment.
