Wake-up Call: You're a jerk, Regis!

So, just last week, Patch 3.3.5 dropped.  Real ID was the big “news maker” from the patch.

But another a couple of other changes were made.  The one I’m referring to, in particular, is the changes to the Vote-Kick system. 

 To quote:

The functionality of the Vote Kick feature in the Dungeon Finder will now behave differently according to a player’s history with the system. Players using the Dungeon Finder who rarely vote to kick players from a group, or rarely abandon groups before a dungeon is complete, will find that the Vote Kick option will have no cooldown. For players who frequently abandon groups or vote to kick other players, the Vote Kick option will be kept on a cooldown. This functionality will adjust itself as a player’s behavior while using the Dungeon Finder changes.

I didn’t think about it too much.  That was, until last night.

So, last night, I queue up for a Random Dungeon on my level 78 Death Knight.  Do some Argent Dailies and Summer Festival stuff, as the wait time is 20 minutes.  24 minutes later, we’ve got our group and 4 out of 5 people zone into Gundrak (I think that’s the one with the two entrances).  Tank, healer, one other dps and myself.   Three of us jump down in the water.  Tank, healer, and myself.  We wait about 2 – 3 minutes, and then I finally pipe up, “WTB the rest of our group.”  The guy who didn’t zone in say, “Oh, hey… brt.”  A minute later, he shows up. 

But that other dps who zoned in still hasn’t moved.  And the tank hasn’t bothered to start on trash without our fifth group member.  So, now we’ve spent over five minutes of doing nothing.  I’m sorry, but going afk for five minutes once you’ve zoned into a dungeon – that’s just not cool (especially without saying anything).  So, because this isn’t a guild run and we aren’t all decked out in ICC gear, I figured we’d need that third dps.  As such, I go to the Vote Kick option.

Nothing happened.  So I try again.

Nothing.

Again.  But this time, I’m paying a bit more attention to what’s going on my screen.  I see this delightful little message:

You cannot perform that action for another 19 minutes.

Whhhhaaaaat?!

So, it seems that yours truly, Darth”omfgsupernice”regis, is actually a big, fat, vote-kick-abusing jerkwad according to Blizzard.  I know… I know.  It’s shocking!

I tell Chawa.  She laughs. 

To be honest, I don’t think I’m all that bad.  Sure, I’ve been in an altercation or two, but I really only remember being involved in 3 vote-kicks.  I haven’t dropped a group in ages… and even then, I only recall one particular time.  So, either Blizzard is really strict…. OR, by relative standards, I’m an intolerant old curmudgeon.

So yeah, Blizzard has given me 2 minutes (well, 20+ minutes) for roughing and now I’m in the penalty box.
